The Villgro Africa Eye Health Innovation Accelerator 2026 is a regional program created to support, invest in, and scale high-impact eye-health startups across Sub-Saharan Africa. The initiative responds to the growing global burden of avoidable vision impairment, which currently affects 1.1 billion people and is projected to reach 1.8 billion by 2050, with most cases in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs).
Villgro Africa, in partnership with The Fred Hollows Foundation (FHF), launched this accelerator to close critical gaps in early-stage capital, diagnostic capacity, and access to affordable eye-care technologies. Through technical support, catalytic seed funding, and strong market linkages, the program aims to help innovators validate solutions, strengthen business models, and expand access to eye care across Africa.
