Toronto Business Incubation & Commercialization Grant 2026

The Toronto Business Incubation & Commercialization Grant Program 2026 is now open for applications until November 28, 5 p.m. This program is designed to support not-for-profit organizations that provide incubation, accelerator, and entrepreneurship programming to Toronto-based entrepreneurs and startups.

The grant aims to boost business formation, innovation, and job creation in Toronto while promoting best practices and sustainable organizational growth. Funding is available across two main streams:

  1. Programs and Events:
    • Up to 50% of eligible expenses, max $20,000 for programs and $10,000 for events.
    • Program grants are split: 75% upfront, 25% after completion.
  2. Multi-Year Operating (3-year cycle):
    • Up to 20% of eligible expenses, max $100,000, contingent on fund availability.
    • 75% upfront, 25% after project milestones.

Eligibility:
Organizations eligible for the grant include pre-incubators, incubators, accelerators, post-secondary institutions, and industry associations offering robust entrepreneurship support in Toronto. Applicants must demonstrate a history of successful programming, a Toronto-centric focus, and not-for-profit status.

Application Requirements:
Applicants must provide detailed proposals, budgets, audited financial statements (for multi-year stream), proof of incorporation, and supporting documentation. Multi-year operating stream applicants must show at least three years of successful programming and paid staff.

Ineligibility:
For-profit incubators, individual businesses, and organizations receiving other core funding from the City of Toronto are ineligible for the multi-year stream.

Reporting and Metrics:
All grant recipients must report program outcomes, including the number of businesses formed, jobs created, events held, and participants served. Data is collected in aggregate form to maintain privacy.
