The Airtel Africa Foundation University Tech Scholarship is now open for applications, offering full scholarships to 20 outstanding first-year undergraduates in Uganda. This initiative is designed to support bright students who want to build careers in technology and innovation, especially those from financially challenged backgrounds.
What the Scholarship Covers
The scholarship provides complete academic support, including:
- Full tuition fees
- Accommodation
- Essential academic materials
- A fixed stipend to cover core study-related expenses
It is specifically targeted at students pursuing degrees in the following fields:
- Information Technology (IT)
- Computer Science
- Software Engineering
- Data Science
- Cybersecurity
- Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Eligible Universities
Applicants must be fully admitted as first-year students at one of these Ugandan universities:
- Makerere University
- ISBAT University
- Uganda Christian University (UCU)
- Mbarara University of Science and Technology (MUST)
- Kyambogo University
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the Airtel Africa Foundation University Tech Scholarship, applicants must:
- Be Ugandan citizens
- Be new first-year entrants in the 2025–2026 academic year
- Hold admission into an eligible tech-related program at one of the participating universities
- Not be beneficiaries of any other scholarship (including Government of Uganda scholarships)
- Meet the minimum university entry requirements (at least two principal passes at UACE obtained in one sitting)
- Show strong academic potential
- Demonstrate financial need and come from a financially constrained background
