The Asia Health Policy Program (AHPP) at Stanford University’s Shorenstein Asia-Pacific Research Center (APARC) is now inviting applications for its 2026-2027 Postdoctoral Fellowship. This funded opportunity aims to train the next generation of scholars focused on health and healthcare policy in the Asia-Pacific region.

About the Fellowship

The fellowship provides early-career researchers with the chance to conduct independent, original research on critical health and healthcare policy issues, especially those relevant to low- and middle-income countries in Asia. Applicants may come from diverse fields such as public policy, public health, economics, sociology, political science, anthropology, medicine, law, and health services research.

The program offers:

  • A minimum 10-month appointment starting in Fall 2026
  • Salary based on Stanford policy, currently prorated from $80,000 per year
  • $3,000 research allowance
  • Full participation in AHPP seminars, publications, and collaborative activities

Fellows must be in residence at Stanford for the entire duration of the appointment and present their findings at Center events.

Eligibility

  • Applicants must have earned a PhD within three years of the fellowship start date (or M.D. within six years).
  • Degree must be conferred by June 30, 2026.
  • Candidates should demonstrate a strong interest in evidence-based health policy research for Asia’s low- and middle-income countries.
  • Diversity of backgrounds and perspectives is strongly encouraged.

  • Research statement (max. 5 pages, double-spaced) outlining proposed research during the fellowship and expected publication(s)
