The WAAW Foundation Scholarship 2025/2026 supports bright and passionate female college students across Africa who are pursuing degrees in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM). The program aims to reduce financial barriers for women in STEM while empowering them to give back to their communities through outreach and mentorship.
About the Scholarship
The WAAW (Working to Advance STEM Education for African Women) Foundation is dedicated to promoting gender equality in STEM fields. Each year, it offers scholarships to outstanding female students enrolled in accredited African universities. This opportunity allows students to focus on their academic goals while promoting the involvement of more young women in science and technology.
Eligibility and Application Process
Eligible applicants must be female students currently studying a STEM-related course at an African university. Candidates are expected to demonstrate financial need, leadership qualities, and a strong desire to make an impact in their communities.
The application consists of four key stages:
- Personal Information
- Educational Background
- Essay Questions
- Two Academic Reference Letters
Applicants are encouraged to review and complete all sections carefully before submitting, as the form cannot be edited after submission.

Program Commitments
Selected scholars must actively participate in WAAW Foundation programs and meet specific engagement requirements to maintain their scholarship eligibility. Commitments include:
- Attending a mandatory virtual orientation and onboarding session.
- Starting or joining a WAAW STEM Chapter on campus and organizing at least eight outreach programs that inspire young girls in STEM.
- Taking part in monthly meet-ups, completing surveys, and engaging in the WAAW Scholars online community.
- Meeting all program milestones to remain in good standing for scholarship disbursement.
- Granting WAAW Foundation consent to use names, photos, and stories for program communication and media purposes.
