Scholarship Value

The University of Twente Scholarship provides financial support ranging from €3,000 to €22,000 for one academic year.
For two-year Master’s programs, the scholarship may be renewed for the second year, provided students meet the academic progress requirements, including:

  • A minimum average grade of 7/10 by the third quartile of the first year.
  • Completion of at least 50% of European Credits (ECs) by the same period.

This scholarship is intended to help with study-related expenses and does not cover tuition fees directly. Recipients can decide how best to use the funds.

Additional Scholarship Opportunity

Students who qualify for the University of Twente Scholarship may also apply for the Kipaji Scholarship, which offers additional financial support for select programs beginning in September 2026. Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for the UTS 2026, applicants must meet the following requirements:

  • Must be from a non-EU/EEA country.
  • Must have received (provisional) admission to a qualifying Master’s program at the University of Twente for the 2026/2027 academic year (September intake).
  • Must possess a student number issued by the University of Twente.
  • Must not be a graduate or current student of the University of Twente.
  • Must meet visa eligibility requirements for the Netherlands.
  • Must meet the English language requirements:
    • IELTS: minimum 6.5 overall, with at least 6.0 in speaking, or
    • TOEFL iBT: minimum 90 overall, with at least 20 in speaking.
  • Must belong to the top 5–10% of their graduating class at their home university.

Note: Students enrolled in pre-Master’s programs, Master’s programs at the Faculty of Geo-Information Science and Earth Observation (ITC), or those paying statutory tuition fees are not eligible.

Round 1:

  • Opens: 15 October 2025, 09:00 CET
  • Closes: 1 February 2026, 16:00 CET

Round 2:

  • Opens: 1 February 2026, 16:00 CET
  • Closes: 1 May 2026, 16:00 CET

Applicants rejected in the first round cannot reapply in the second round.
