Okezie Victor Ikpeazu was born on October 18, 1964, in Umuebere, Umuobiakwa village, Abia State, Nigeria. He was the former Governor of Abia State. Born to the late Pa Ishmael and Deaconess Bessie Ikpeazu, he grew up in the peaceful Isialaukwu, Mbato Autonomous Community in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State. His humble beginnings shaped his values of service, education, and leadership, which later defined his political career.

Educational Background

Okezie began his education at Amaise Central Primary School, Umuobiakwa. He later attended Eziama High School in Aba and Ihie High School in Isiala Ngwa for his secondary education. His passion for learning led him to the University of Maiduguri, where he studied Clinical Biochemistry and graduated with honors. He didn’t stop there—he went on to earn a Master’s degree in Biochemical Toxicology and later obtained a Ph.D. in Biochemical Pharmacology from the University of Calabar.

Career

Okezie Ikpeazu loved teaching, so he worked as a lecturer and later became an administrative manager in schools. His teaching experience helped him in his future job.

In 2002, Okezie started his political journey. He became the Chairman of the Transition Committee for Obingwa Local Government Area. This was his first step into politics. In April 2015, He won the election and became the Governor of Abia State under the People’s Democratic Party (PDP). People liked him and voted for him.
