Lisa is a Thai rapper, singer, and dancer who is a member of the South Korean group Blackpink and also a solo artist. She was born Pranpriya Manobal on March 27, 1997, in Buriram Province, Thailand. Later, she changed her name to Lalisa, which means “the one being praised,” based on a fortune teller’s advice for good luck.
Lisa is an only child, raised by her Thai mother and her Swiss stepfather, Chef Marco, who is well-known in his field. She is also multilingual, fluent in her native Thai, along with Korean and English, and has basic knowledge of Chinese and Japanese.

In August 2016, she debuted as one of the four members of Blackpink, a popular South Korean girl group.

On April 19, 2021, Lisa debuted as a soloist with her single “Lalisa.” The music video set a record for the most views by a solo artist in 24 hours, garnering 73.6 million views, earning her two Guinness World Records and breaking Taylor Swift’s previous record. “Lalisa” debuted at number 84 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and number two on the Billboard Global 200.
Her debut album sold 736,221 copies in its first week in South Korea, setting a record for the highest first-week sales by a female artist in the country. Lisa was the first female soloist to surpass the 500,000-copy mark in one week.
In 2024, Lisa launched her own artist management company, Lloud. She is also set to make her acting debut in HBO’s “White Lotus” series in 2025.
