Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program 2026

The Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program (JJ/WBGSP) 2026 is a highly competitive and fully funded scholarship designed to support outstanding students from developing countries who are committed to contributing to global development. Sponsored by the Government of Japan and administered by the World Bank, this scholarship enables talented professionals to pursue master’s degree programs in key development-related fields at leading universities across the world.

The JJ/WBGSP focuses on building future leaders by equipping them with advanced academic training, practical knowledge, and global exposure. After completing their studies, scholars are expected to return to their home countries and apply their skills to drive social and economic progress.

Overview of the JJ/WBGSP 2026

The Joint Japan/World Bank Graduate Scholarship Program is open to citizens of eligible developing countries who have relevant professional experience in development-related work. For the 2026 academic year, the program supports 44 participating master’s programs offered by 24 universities located in the United States, Europe, Africa, Oceania, and Japan.

Only applicants who secure unconditional admission (except for funding) into one of the approved participating master’s programs are eligible to apply for the scholarship. Admission to non-participating programs does not qualify for JJ/WBGSP funding.
