Startups can create an account on the competition portal to begin their application, save progress, and return later to complete submissions. All required fields must be filled accurately before submitting the application for review.
Eligibility Criteria
The Challenge is open to early-stage, for-profit AgTech startups that meet the following requirements:
- Early development stage, from validated concepts to pre-Series A funding
- At least one founder is working full-time on the project
- Demonstrated innovation, market potential, and alignment with sustainability goals
- Ability to scale and replicate solutions across different contexts
- Proposals must showcase a significant impact on agricultural productivity, environmental sustainability, or food security
Startups will be evaluated on:
- Innovation Impact: How novel and significant the solution is.
- Market Potential: The demand and viability within the agricultural sector.
- Sustainability Contribution: Alignment with environmental and social objectives.
- Scalability & Replicability: Potential for expansion and adaptability across diverse agricultural contexts.

- Initial Submission: Startups submit their applications and supporting documents.
- Top 10 Selection: Shortlisted startups provide pitch videos and financials for review.
- Public Voting: Global audience engages in virtual voting to highlight standout ventures.
- Top 3 Selection: Three finalists are invited to present live at the Borlaug Dialogue in Iowa.
- Final Judging: Expert judges evaluate live pitches and determine first, second, and third-place winners.
