Applications Open for UN Women AGCCI Coding Camps 2025

UN Women Kenya has announced the official opening of applications for the 2025 African Girls Can Code Initiative (AGCCI) Camps, a fully funded program designed to empower 100 young Kenyan women through hands-on digital skills training, mentorship, and leadership development.

Organized in collaboration with Siemens AG, the African Union Commission (AUC), and the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the initiative is supported by Kenya’s Ministry of ICT & Digital Economy, the Ministry of Gender, and the Ministry of Education.

The AGCCI 2025 Camps will offer two intensive residential tech bootcamps in Nairobi:

  • Camp I: August 16–29, 2025
  • Camp II: September 6–19, 2025

Each camp will host 50 young women, providing them with real-world training in coding, artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, civic technology, and digital entrepreneurship. The experience will also include innovation labs, group challenges, and interactive sessions on digital safety and gender equality.

Why Apply?

Selected participants will:

  • Attend a fully sponsored 2-week coding and tech bootcamp
  • Gain mentorship from experienced women in STEM, AGCCI alumni, and professionals in the tech industry
  • Engage in peer-to-peer collaboration and tackle community-focused tech challenges
  • Explore key social issues like Gender-Based Violence (GBV) and Technology-Facilitated Gender-Based Violence (TFGBV)
  • Learn how to pitch digital solutions and contribute to Kenya’s innovation ecosystem
  • Access post-camp opportunities in leadership, advocacy, and digital safety

The AGCCI program also educates participants on global frameworks such as the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the Beijing Platform for Action, showing how tech can be used for social impact and gender inclusion.
