The Eva Crane Trust has announced the opening of its 2025 Grant Program, inviting researchers, students, and organizations to apply for funding to support innovative projects in apiculture, bee science, and historical studies related to beekeeping.
This global grant opportunity focuses on enhancing knowledge of bees and their importance through original and strategic research. The Trust is especially interested in studies that contribute to peer-reviewed publications and help improve beekeeping practices worldwide.
Who Can Apply?
Eligible applicants include:
- Researchers with limited access to traditional funding sources
- PhD students with supervisor endorsements (stipend support may be available for the first year)
- Projects involving citizen science, historical research, or public engagement
- Scientific studies with plans for the wide dissemination of results.

Grant Details
- Maximum funding per project: £5,000
- Applications above £30,000 will be reviewed by external assessors
- Priority is given to pioneering and early-stage research, especially projects that may not otherwise receive funding
The Trust will not fund expenses like travel-only costs, conference fees, commercial ventures, institutional overheads, or basic beekeeping activities.
Applicants are encouraged to design projects that will inform, educate, and engage the public while contributing to global understanding of bee health, pollination, and the cultural significance of beekeeping.
