ACET Young Leaders in Research Grant 2026 for African Scholars

The African Center for Economic Transformation (ACET) has opened applications for the Young Leaders in Research (YLR) Grant 2026, a prestigious 12-month program that empowers early-career African researchers to lead innovative, policy-driven studies that contribute to Africa’s sustainable development.

The YLR Grant offers emerging researchers the chance to strengthen their academic expertise, receive mentorship from ACET Senior Fellows, and influence real policy change across the continent. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, with the final deadline set for November 21, 2025.

About the YLR Grant

The Young Leaders in Research (YLR) initiative supports African researchers under 35 who are passionate about using economics and related disciplines to address pressing challenges facing the continent. The program provides funding, mentorship, visibility, and opportunities for professional growth.

Through this initiative, ACET aims to build a new generation of thinkers and leaders driving economic transformation, innovation, and inclusive growth across Africa.

Grant Benefits

Selected researchers will receive:

Eligibility Criteria

To apply for the 2026 YLR Grant, applicants must:

  • Hold or be pursuing a Master’s degree or higher in economics or related fields
  • Demonstrate leadership potential and a commitment to Africa’s development
  • Show evidence of research experience through coursework, internships, or community-based projects
