Okezie Victor Ikpeazu was born on October 18, 1964, in Umuebere, Umuobiakwa village, Abia State, Nigeria. His parents were the late Pa Ishmael and Deaconess Bessie Ikpeazu. They lived in a simple community called Isialaukwu, Mbato Autonomous Community in Obingwa Local Government Area of Abia State, Nigeria.

Okezie started school at Amaise Central Primary School, Umuobiakwa. Then he went to Eziama High School in Aba and Ihie High School in Isiala Ngwa for secondary education. He was eager to learn, so he went to the University of Maiduguri to study Clinical Biochemistry. He graduated with honors. After finishing university, Okezie Ikpeazu continued studying. He got a Master’s degree in Biochemical Toxicology and later a Ph.D. in Biochemical Pharmacology from the University of Calabar.
