The Common Fund for Commodities (CFC) has launched its 27th Call for Proposals for 2025 under the theme “Thriving Farmers, Resilient Ecosystems.” This initiative supports high-impact projects that enhance smallholder incomes, restore ecosystems, and enhance sustainable commodity value chains in developing countries.
About the CFC
The CFC is an intergovernmental financial institution dedicated to reducing poverty and enhancing the economic well-being of smallholder farmers and commodity producers. Its vision is to transform and diversify the commodity sector in developing countries, making it a key driver of sustainable growth and development.
Funding Priorities for 2025
CFC will finance transformative and commercially viable projects that align with environmental and social sustainability, including:
- Trade finance for companies connecting smallholder farmers with global markets.
- Regenerative agriculture and biodiversity protection.
- Local value addition with low environmental impact.
- Agtech and digital tools for inclusive and transparent value chains.
- Improved financial access for smallholder farmers.
- Women entrepreneurship and gender-focused business solutions.

Special attention will be given to:
- Projects supporting sustainable use and conservation of forest resources in the Congo Basin region (Cameroon, CAR, DRC, Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, Republic of Congo).
- Small-ticket projects in underserved areas or non-traditional value chains in countries such as Senegal, Tanzania, Malawi, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Zambia, Mozambique, DRC, and Zimbabwe.
Who Can Apply
Eligible applicants include SMEs, cooperatives, social enterprises, NGOs, and public or private sector entities operating in one or more of CFC’s 101 member countries. Applicants should have at least three years of operational history demonstrating relevant experience and capacity.
Priority is given to proposals from Least Developed Countries (LDCs), Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDCs), and Small Island Developing States (SIDS).
