Naveen-ul-Haq Murid was born on September 23, 1999, in Kabul, Afghanistan. He is a cricketer who made his international debut for Afghanistan in September 2016 at the age of 17. His father is a doctor, and he has an older brother.
When Naveen moved back to Afghanistan from Pakistan, he wanted to play cricket, but his father was unsure about it. With the help of his older brother, he was able to convince their father to let him pursue the sport. His brother even filled out the registration forms for him when he joined the National Cricket Academy.

At the age of 11, Naveen traveled to Penang to represent Afghanistan in the U-16 team. On September 25, 2016, he made his List A debut against Bangladesh in Mirpur. He played his first-class match for Kabul Eagles on March 7, 2018, in the Ahmad Shah Abdali 4-Day Tournament. He then made his Twenty20 (T20) debut for Afghanistan on January 19, 2017, against Namibia in the Desert T20 Challenge.
In December 2017, Naveen was appointed captain of Afghanistan’s squad for the 2018 Under-19 Cricket World Cup. In August 2019, he was named in Afghanistan’s T20 International (T20I) squad for the Bangladesh Tri-Nation Series and made his T20I debut against Bangladesh on September 21, 2019.

Naveen-ul-Haq was banned for 20 months by the UAE’s ILT20 for breaking his contract with the Sharjah Warriors. This means he cannot play in the 2024 and 2025 seasons. He refused to sign the retention notice for the tournament’s second season.
Additionally, the Afghanistan Cricket Board (ACB) sanctioned Naveen, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, and Fazalhaq Farooqi for putting personal interests ahead of playing for the national team.
