Lesego Chombo, otherwise known as Honourable Lesego Chombo is a Botswanan politician, a member of the Botswanan parliament, a lawyer and a former model. She currently serves as the minister of youth and gender affairs in Botswana.

Honorable Lesego Chombo was born on 16 April, 1998, in a village in the North-Western district of Botswana called Shorobe. She grew up in a modest but culturally rich environment, was raised a Christian, and has upheld the faith till today. She displayed a strong leadership skill as a child and also showed keen interest in the several social injustices she noticed around her on a daily basis. She has three other siblings, two brothers and one sister.

Legal Profession

While she was still in school, she became quite involved in community projects and student organizations. Later on, she started using her legal know-how to combat corruption and seek justice for the common man. She started her legal career with an internship at the law firm ‘Baliki Corporate Law’ but eventually jumped ship to ‘Kebabonye Business Law,’ where she later became an associate. Her main focus has always been social justice, and she has actively advocated it so much that people began to regard her as a transformative leader.

Modeling Career

Her sojourn into beauty and pageantry began with her win in a pageantry competition in 2012 when she was just 14 years old. Years later she was walking down the aisle again in another beauty contest where she won the Miss Botswana title. And in 2024, she won Miss World Africa, which skyrocketed her fame.

Political Career

In November 2024, President Duma Boko nominated her to the National Assembly, where she was eventually appointed the minister of youth and gender affairs. She made history as Botswana’s youngest minister, coming into office at 26 years of age. She has stated that one of her main goals is to reduce youth unemployment and push for a more gender-equal environment.
