Latto, whose real name is Alyssa Michelle Stephens, was born on December 22, 1998. She is an American rapper and was born in Ohio to parents Misti Pitts and Shayne Stephens. Raised in Clayton County, Georgia, alongside her sister, Brooklyn Nikole. She is biracial, having a Black father and a Caucasian mother.

She attended Lovejoy High School in Hampton. According to her, she was bullied in school for being light-skinned. This was the reason why she previously adopted the stage name Mulatto before she shortened it to Latto. She didn’t pursue higher education in order to focus on her music career.
