Amy Jade Winehouse was born on 14 September ,1983, in South Gate, London. She was born to parents Janis and Mitch Winehouse a Jewish couple. She had an older brother Alex, who was born in 1979. They both grew up with their parents in London Southgate area.

Her first album ‘Frank’ had a lot of songs she wrote during this period. She got signed to Island records at 17 just a little while after she dropped d out of school. She was met with success immediately as her debut album became certified Platinum and was nominated for the Mercury Music Prize.
her second album ‘Back to Black’s was released in 2006, the album was also a huge success. The first track on the album spent 57 weeks in the UK singles chart. Her career was a straight success right from the beginning, she performed at Nelson Mandela’s 90th birthday party at Hyde Park, London in June 2008.
After her death, her last ‘Lioness: Hidden Treasures’ was released. This was a compilation of her unreleased songs. The album peaked at No.1 in the UK album chart.
