The African Forum and Network on Debt and Development (AFRODAD) invites passionate and motivated young professionals to apply for its 2026 Internship Program, running from January to June 2026. This opportunity is ideal for individuals who aspire to support Africa’s inclusive economic growth and sustainable development through policy advocacy, research, and financial accountability.
The program offers placements in several key departments, including Policy & Advocacy, Campaigns & Communication, Finance & Administration, Human Resources, Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning, and the Executive Director’s Office.

- Sovereign Debt Management (SDM) Intern
- Domestic Resource Mobilization (DRM) Intern

Duration: 6 months
Location: Interns based in AFRODAD offices, such as Harare, Zimbabwe, or Yaoundé, Cameroon, will work full-time onsite. Those in other countries may work remotely with the support of their organization.
About AFRODAD
Founded as a Pan-African Civil Society Organization, AFRODAD works with national partners across 16 African countries and three regional economic blocs. Its mission is to promote public participation in debt management, strengthen accountability and governance, and encourage responsible borrowing among African governments.
With Africa currently facing a renewed debt crisis, AFRODAD plays a vital role in influencing policies that promote sustainable development, transparent financial management, and poverty eradication. Through research, advocacy, and capacity building, the organization ensures that African countries adopt sound economic practices and avoid unsustainable debt accumulation.
Program Objective
The AFRODAD Internship Program 2026 aims to nurture young Africans who are eager to advance the economic justice movement. Interns will learn to champion advocacy for policy reform, civil society management, and development financing while gaining practical skills in media relations and stakeholder engagement.
What Interns Will Learn
Participants in the AFRODAD Internship Program will gain:
- Hands-on experience in policy research, advocacy, and campaign coordination
- In-depth exposure to African economic development, debt management, and public finance
- Strong analytical, writing, and presentation skills
- A professional understanding of how Pan-African Civil Society Organisations operate
Eligibility Requirements
Education:
Applicants must hold a bachelor’s degree in one of the following fields:
Finance, Administration, Human Resources, Communications, Data Science, Development Economics, Economics, International Development, International Relations, Law, or Statistics.

Skills & Interests:
- Strong analytical and written communication abilities
