Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, born May 13, 1960, is a Nigerian politician and businessman. He is the current Executive Governor of Osun State, a position he assumed in 2022. Before becoming governor, he represented the Osun-West Senatorial District from 2017 to 2019. Adeleke is popularly called “The Dancing Senator” because of his lively dance moves at public events, which have made him very popular, especially among young people. He hails from the prominent Adeleke family of Ede, Osun State, and is an uncle to Nigerian superstar Davido.

Ademola Adeleke began his early education at Methodist Primary School, Surulere, Lagos, before moving to Nawarudeen Primary School, Ikire, in the old Oyo State. He attended The Seventh Day Adventist Secondary School, Ede, and later Ede Muslim Grammar School, Ede, where he completed his secondary education.
He travelled to the United States to continue his studies, starting at Jacksonville State University, Alabama, majoring in Criminal Justice with a minor in Political Science. After controversies over his academic credentials, Adeleke returned to school and earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Atlanta Metropolitan State College, USA, in 2021.

Adeleke has a strong background in business and administration. He worked at Quicksilver Courier Company, Atlanta, Georgia (1985–1989), and later became Vice President of Origin International LLC, Atlanta (1990–1994), a flavours and fragrance manufacturing company he co-founded. He was Executive Director of Guinness Nigeria Plc (1992–1999) and later Group Executive Director at his brother’s company, Pacific Holdings Limited (2001–2016).

Adeleke entered politics in 2001 alongside his late brother, Senator Isiaka Adeleke. After his brother’s death in 2017, he contested and won the Osun-West by-election under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). He initially belonged to the All Progressives Congress (APC) but moved to the PDP in April 2017. In 2018, he became the PDP governorship candidate for Osun State but lost in a controversial rerun to APC’s Gboyega Oyetola. In July 2022, Adeleke contested again and defeated the incumbent governor, winning in 17 local government areas with 402,979 votes.

Within his first 100 days in office, Adeleke recorded several notable achievements:

• Provided borehole water in all 333 wards of Osun State.
• Constructed and rehabilitated roads across the state, including Osogbo–Ikirun Road and township roads in Ede, Ilesa, Ikirun, Iwo, and Ife.
• Released ₦518 million to 40 communities for infrastructure projects.
• Launched the Imole Surgical and Medical Outreach, providing free surgeries and treatments for 18,000 people.
• Paid long-standing salary and pension arrears from January 2016.
• Enrolled 3,000 residents in the Osun Health Insurance Scheme (OHIS).
• Revived abandoned road projects, such as the Osogbo/Ikirun/Kwara boundary road.
• Introduced new tech and innovation policies, including Osun Google Mapping and Startup Act domestication.
