Rosé Biography

Roseanne Park popularly known as Rosé, was born on February 11, 1997, in Auckland, New Zealand. Her parents were South Korean immigrants who had settled in New Zealand. Rosé grew up with her older sister, Alice, and shared a close bond with her family. In 2004, when she was seven years old, her family relocated to Melbourne, Australia, where she spent most of her childhood.

From a young age, Rosé showed a strong passion for music. She began singing, learned to play the guitar and piano, and often performed in church choirs. These early experiences helped nurture her talent and set the foundation for her future career in music.

Rosé Educational Background

She studied at Kew East Primary School in Kew East and later at Canterbury Girls’ Secondary College in Canterbury, a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria. However, she left school after signing a contract with the South Korean record label YG Entertainment.

Rosé Career

During an interview on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Rosé shared that she often stayed up late singing and playing the piano in the living room, sometimes falling asleep there. Her father, noticing her passion, decided to take her to a YG Entertainment audition in Sydney. At first, Rosé thought he was joking because becoming a singer overseas seemed so unlikely. However, out of 700 applicants, she earned first place. Two months later, she signed with YG Entertainment as a trainee and moved to Seoul, South Korea.

Rosé trained at YG Entertainment for four years and was introduced as the final member of the girl group Blackpink on June 22, 2016. The group debuted on August 8, 2016, with the single album Square One, featuring the hit songs “Whistle” and “Boombayah.” In 2018, Blackpink signed with Interscope Records in a global partnership with YG Entertainment.

Rose Career

Rosé appeared on several TV shows, including King of Masked Singer, where her vocal performance received praise from the audience. She admitted she was unsure if people would enjoy her singing and felt “happy and relieved” by the positive response. She also performed on the second season of Fantastic Duo.

In 2021, Rosé made her solo debut with the single album R, released on March 12. The album broke records, selling 448,089 copies in its first week. The lead single, “On the Ground,” achieved 41.6 million YouTube views within 24 hours, breaking the record for the most-viewed music video by a Korean solo artist, previously held by Psy’s “Gentleman.” The song also debuted at number one on the Billboard Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts, marking the first time a Korean solo artist topped these charts. These achievements earned Rosé two Guinness World Records.

On October 18, 2024, Rosé released the single “Apt.” in collaboration with Bruno Mars as part of her debut studio album Rosie. The song was a global hit, becoming her second number-one single on the Billboard Global 200 and Global Excl. U.S. charts. It topped charts in multiple countries, including New Zealand and Australia, where it became the first song by a solo female K-pop artist to reach number one on the ARIA Singles Chart. The song also peaked at number two on the UK Singles Chart, making her the first female K-pop soloist to enter the top ten.

Rose Career

By November 2024, the success of “Apt.” helped Rosé surpass 50 million monthly listeners on Spotify, setting a new record for the highest number of monthly listeners by a K-pop act on the platform.
