The Canadian Youth Delegate (CYD) for Global Health Program 2026 is now accepting applications from passionate young professionals eager to shape global health policies. This prestigious program provides a unique platform for Canadian youth to represent their perspectives in international health diplomacy, working alongside delegations at major global health events.
About the Program
The CYD program empowers young Canadians to actively contribute to international health discussions, ensuring that youth perspectives are included in decision-making. The selected delegate will engage in consultations with youth across Canada, gathering insights to highlight underrepresented issues in global health.
Key platforms where the CYD’s input will be influential include:
- The World Health Organization (WHO) Executive Board meeting
- The World Health Assembly
- The Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO) Directing Council & Executive Committee
- United Nations (UN) General Assembly High-Level Meetings
Through these engagements, the delegate will gain invaluable experience in global health governance, policy, and diplomacy.
Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
- Be a Canadian citizen with a valid passport.
- Be between 18 and 30 years old at the time of applying.
- Be a student or young professional in health sciences, clinical care, or global/public health.

Selection & Merit Criteria
Applications will be assessed based on:
- Quality and completeness of the application.
- Knowledge and experience in global health policy, governance, or diplomacy.
- Past contributions to youth engagement or youth networks.
- Understanding of global health systems and the UN framework (including WHO and PAHO).
- Bilingual skills in English and French (preferred).

Financial Support
The selected delegate will receive financial assistance to cover program expenses. While some costs may need to be paid upfront, accommodation, per diem, and travel expenses will be reimbursed after participation.
