Jisoo Biography

Jisoo was born on January 3, 1995, in Gunpo, Gyeonggi Province, South Korea. She is the last of three siblings and from an affluent family; as a result, she was doted on by both her parents and elder siblings. She has an elder sister, Jiyoon, and an elder brother, Junghoon, who is six years older than her. Her father, Ha-Joon Kim, is said to be a major CEO in the entertainment industry, while her mother, Ji-Yoo Kim, works with an NGO that helps the underprivileged. She is fluent in Korean, Chinese, and Japanese, with a working knowledge of English.

Jisoo’s Educational Background

Jisoo went to school in the town of Gunpo, where she was born, for a while, then she later transferred to the prestigious School of Performing Arts Seoul (SOPA) when her family relocated to Seoul. She proceeded to become part of the drama club, learning how to give outstanding performances on stage. She enrolled at Korea University of Arts after high school and graduated with a degree in music.

Jisoo’s journey to being part of Blackpink started as early as 16 years of age in 2011. Like most members of Blackpink, she auditioned for YG Entertainment, a top entertainment agency in South Korea. Her talents earned her a spot in YG as a trainee. The next five years were a series of rigorous singing, dancing, and performance training. Which paid off when she was unveiled in 2016 as one of the four members of YG’s debut group Blackpink, alongside Rose, Lisa, and Jennie.

She is the group’s lead vocalist as a result of her beautiful and powerful voice. In 2024, Jisoo founded her own label, BLISSOO, under her brother’s company, Biomom, Inc., to manage her solo endeavors. She signed with Warner Records in 2025 for her global music releases, marking a new chapter in her career. Jisoo’s fashion influence is equally significant, serving as a global ambassador for Dior (since 2021) and Cartier (since 2020) and representing brands like Kiss Me, It Michaa, and CELEBe.
